Four players who have ties with the incoming German tactician are being linked with the Manchester giants.

Ralf Rangnick is yet to make his Manchester United debut, but the newly-appointed interim boss has reportedly already drawn up a four-man whislisht of players he plans on pursuing next summer.

The latest rumors claim that the iconic German tactician is keen on two forwards in particular, with each being well-known to the Premier League — but for opposing reasons. The first is Erling Haaland, the hottest young striker in world football who is wanted throughout Europe, including several of England's top clubs such as Man Utd, Man City, and Chelsea.

Rangnick, who has vast experience in recruitment after working as a sporting director at RB Leipzig, RB Salzburg and Lokomotiv Moscow, will look to use his excellent relationship with Haaland's father in a bid to win the race for the striker's signature. This is according to Bild, with the German tabloid claiming that the new Red Devils boss grew to know Alf-Inge Haaland after overseeing Erling's rise to prominence at RB Salzburg.

However, that's not all. Bild go on further, writing that the 63-year-old is also keen on reuniting with Chelsea star Timo Werner, who he worked with during his time at RB Leipzig. The German striker continues to make the headlines since moving to Stamford Bridge back in June 2020, but for all the wrong reasons, as the former Bundesliga sensation has struggled throughout his time with the Blues despite costing the London giants $59M.

Nonetheless, the Mannscaft international scored a whopping 34 goals in his last season in the German top-flight, hence why Rangnick still holds admiration for the Chelsea flop. Whether the Premier League leaders would welcome the opportunity to cash in on the striker or refuse to strengthen a direct rival remains unclear, but Bild argue that the coach will target a move this summer.

Once done with his six-month spell as the head coach, Rangnick will move upstairs and take up an advisory role. Man United could still raid Ralf's former club RB Leipzig regardless, with the Manchester giants also being linked with a move for two Die Roten Bullen aces.

The first is Amadou Haidara, who is a midfielder that would offer the Red Devils the defensive security that is lacking from the likes of Fred and Pogba. The other needs no introduction as he is none other than Christopher Nkunku, the in-form French winger who has scored 13 goals in 19 appearances so far across all competitions.

Those four aforementioned targets will – for the most part – be welcomed by the Man United fan base. However, the immediate concern is not the upcoming summer transfer window, but rather the ongoing season. Target no.1 for Rangnick will be to lead the Premier League giants back up the table, with Cristiano and Co. currently sitting in eighth, five points adrift of the top four.

The club will have to return to winning ways immediately, starting with Thursday's showdown with Arsenal. The Red Devils have won only once in their last eight top-flight fixtures, losing five of them and drawing in the remaining two. Unfortunately, due to visa complications, Rangnick will not be available for the clash with the Gunners, meaning Michael Carrick will remain in the dugout for one more fixture.
