Bayern has led the Bundesliga from match-day one to match-day eleven. Will somebody be able to cut down their lead at the top this Saturday?
The leaders this week have a rather tough task. They play their third Bavarian derby of the season against Nürnberg. Nürnberg is coming into this one on the back of yet another loss. They were defeated by Mainz. Bayern meanwhile beat third placed Eintracht Frankfurt, 2-0, in a hard fought match. The previous encounter between Bayern and Nürnberg wasn’t particularly pretty; Bayern won it by a single goal.

Second placed Schalke plays Bayer Leverkusen this week. Had this match been scheduled for an earlier match-day, Schalke might have not looked at the game in the manner in which they will now. Leverkusen seemed like a genuine title contender until last week. Wolfsburg left them shell-shocked and raced to a 3-0 lead. Leverkusen eventually lost 3-1. Schalke meanwhile came back from behind to beat Bremen 2-1.

Bremen will begin life without Klaus Allofs this week. Allofs and Thomas Schaaf formed a good partnership for many years and brought Bremen a few titles along the way. Allofs, the sporting director, has now signed for Wolfsburg. Some Bremen fans might not be too disappointed though. A change in management might help them considering their recent problems.

Aaron Hunt is a man on form and he will look to get more goals against Fortuna Düsseldorf. Düsseldorf picked up a 1-1 draw against Hoffenheim last week. Their hopes will rest on the shoulders of the likes of the talented Robbie Kruse and Danni Schahin to get them through this one.

Fellow strugglers Augsburg take on Frankfurt in Frankfurt. Eintracht earned everyone’s respect due to their courageous performance against the leaders Bayern. They are still third in the table and have an excellent chance to hold on to that position for at-least another match-day. They are still ahead of the reigning champions Borussia Dortmund of-course.

BVB’s 1-3 win over Augsburg was much more laboured than the score-line suggests. They are struggling to get the balance right between European and domestic duties but have a great chance to earn three points against struggling Greuther Fürth. Fürth took the lead against Mönchengladbach twice last time out but could not hold on due to the sending off of Thomas Kleine.

Gladbach has a tough task to negotiate this week in unpredictable Stuttgart. VfB went into a 2-0 lead against Hannover in front of their fans but conceded four to eventually lose 2-4. I doubt many of you will be surprised to hear that a German side gave away a lead though.

Hannover 96 plays SC Freiburg this week. Freiburg was involved in a 0-0 draw with HSV. Despite having a relatively small budget, Freiburg has done very well in the league this season. Beating Hannover might be too big a task for them though and Hannover should squeak out a win.

Another side which runs on a small budget like Freiburg’s is Mainz. Mainz has been relatively good this season and plays HSV. Hamburg hasn’t had a good run in the last two match-days. Prior to the draw against Freiburg, FC Bayern took them apart too easily. Mainz might be able to register a rather valuable win in this one.

Hoffenheim meanwhile takes on Wolfsburg on Sunday in what will be an extremely intriguing affair considering that nobody remotely knows who will win. These two clubs have shocked and amazed viewers this season in equal measure. Hoffenheim managed to beat Schalke while Wolfsburg, as mentioned previously, beat Leverkusen.
