Adeyemi favors Barca move as Sterling stalls

Report: Adeyemi favors Barca move as Sterling mauls La Liga switch

November 16, 2021 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
Los Blaugrana are keen on bolstering their attack by recruiting either one of the pair.

German teenage sensation Karim Adeyemi is said to be keen on completing a move to Barcelona amid growing rumors of Los Blaugrana being interested in securing his service. On the contrary, reports from England suggest that Manchester City star Raheem Sterling is adamant on making the switch to the Camp Nou outfit with a couple of Premier League sides having shown interest in recruiting him.

Adeyemi is the newest star in a long line of promising young footballers to come from the Red Bull network. The 19-year-old has had a fantastic start to the season, scoring 11 goals in just 13 games in the Austrian Bundesliga. He's also made an impression in the Champions League, scoring three goals and providing an assist in four games.

Having seen his reputation skyrocket in the process, the youngster who made his senior debut for Germany in September, has caught the eye of a host of top European clubs. Among them are German giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, as well as Juventus, Liverpool and Barcelona.

However, it is being largely speculated that the latter is the front-runner in the race for the 19-year-old winger. The attacker is also said to be keen on a move to Camp Nou albeit not being in favor of leaving his Austrian club in the middle of the season. According Sport1, Barcelona are preparing an offer in the excess of $45.2M for the player in January, while offering him a five-year contract.

Manchester City's Raheem Sterling is also another player on the radar of the Catalan club as the rebuilding under Xavi commences. The 25-year-old attacker has fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad club and is said to be considering a move away. In recent weeks, he has been linked with a move to the LaLiga giants, with Pep Guardiola even adding to the speculations by claiming that his former club could well secure the service of the Englishman should they formalise their interest.

According to Metro, City value the 26-year-old at about $60M, an amount which could affect Barcelona's interest. While the fee could be a hinderance, a report by El Nacional in Spain has revealed that the English striker favors a return to his boyhood club Liverpool as he fancies working under Jurgen Klopp.

Arsenal are also believed to be monitoring Sterling's situation but Man City, on the other hand, is said to be 'unwilling' to talk with a direct opponent and will only consider proposals from outside the country.
