The South American qualifiers could deliver us the first qualified teams to the World Cup after this weekend. Keep track of the matches set to be played before the end of the week.

The CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers will have some busy days with the batch of games that are set to take place before this week comes to a conclusion. Contrary to what happened in previous international breaks, there will only be two games for each national team this time around, which may result in better matches to watch for fans around the globe.

As of now, Brazil and Argentina seem to be ready to claim their spots in the FIFA World Cup to be played next year, but the battle between the third and seventh place may give us quite some headlines, especially for teams such as Uruguay, Chile and Bolivia, who are entangled in a battle for the final WC spot.

Here are the main talking points ahead of this week's games in the CONMEBOL Qualifiers.

The CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers standings ahead of this week's fixtures

Top games to watch

Brazil vs Colombia: As mentioned above, only a miracle could deprive the world from watching the Selecao getting eliminated from the FIFA World Cup, but the same can't be said about Colombia, who are three points above some of the teams that could thump them away from the quadrennial competition. With that in mind, we can expect the Colombians to try and lure at least one point away from their visit to Arena Corinthians if they want to keep themselves in the race for a World Cup ticket with five games to go after this clash.

Uruguay vs Argentina: The "reunion" between Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez will see both stars getting to this game in a complicated moment, as both of them are struggling with injuries before the game. Speaking of this match, La Celeste would be the one to need their striker more, since they are currently fifth in the Qualifiers and with a negative goal difference, which could hinder their chances of success if Chile or even Bolivia step up the pace. On the other hand, La Albiceleste's main goal will be to get closer to Brazil in the tournament, with one of their games set to take place next week and with the other one still being part of a negotiation between CONMEBOL authorities and members of Argentina and Brazil's squads.

Who's in and who's out?

Argentina: Sergio Aguero, Lucas Ocampos (injured).

Brazil: Lucas Verissimo, Roberto Firmino (injured).

Chile: Charles Aránguiz, Edson Puch (injured).

Colombia: Oscar Murillo, Yerry Mina, Radamel Falcao (injured).

Uruguay: Edinson Cavani, Sebastián Coates, Darwin Núñez (injured).
