Bayern Munich ended Freiburg's unbeaten run when they faced off on Saturday while Dortmund fell to a 2-1 loss vs RB Leipzig.

What a round Matchday 11 in the Bundesliga turned out to be! The action kicked off in the German top-flight on Friday with Mainz's clash against Borussia M'gladbach, which ended in a 1-1 draw; however, all eyes were on the weekend games.

League leaders Bayern Munich took on third-placed Freiburg, with Nagelssman's side winning 2-1 courtesy of goals from Goretzka and Lewandowski. That same day, second-placed Borussia Dortmund locked horns with RB Leipzig and suffered their third loss of the season, going 2-1 down against Nkunku and Co.

Wolfsburg also enjoyed the weekend as their 1-0 victory over Augsburg saw them climb to fourth in the table. Meanwhile, Leverkusen, having suffered another slip-up, this time drawing 1-1 with Hertha BSC, have now dropped out of the top five. Here's everything you need to know about the recent round of action in the Bundesliga.

Bundesliga – top headlines

  • As mentioned earlier, Freiburg succumbed to a 2-1 loss at the Allianz Arena and as a result, the final standing unbeaten run of the 2021/22 Bundesliga season final fell.

  • Meanwhile, the Bavarians set an incredible feat with that win as they scored their 100th Bundesliga goal of the 2021 calendar year. This is the first time the German giants have ever reached this feat and they are now only one behind the record of most Bundesliga goals in a single calendar year (FC Köln – 101 in 1977).

  • While Dortmund suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat against RB Leipzig, it was a memorable weekend for the iconic Marco Reus. The German ace scored his side's only game and thus moved level with Chapuisat as BVB's joint-fourth all-time top scorer in the Bundesliga, having netted 102 times for the Black and Yellow in the German top-flight. He is now only 33 goals behind Dortmund's all-time top Bundesliga scorer Manfred Burgsmüller (135).

  • Leverkusen suffered another slip-up but a major club record was broken during their draw with Hertha BSC. Zidan Sertdemir (16 years and 276 days) and Iker Bravo (16 years and 298 days), both of who made their German top-flight debuts in that game, become the youngest and second-youngest Bundesliga debutants, respectively, for Die Werkself in history.

Top matches to watch in the Bundesliga: Nov. 19-21, 2021

Augsburg vs Bayern München: The Bundesliga leaders have now moved four points clear at the top thanks to Dortmund's slip-up. An international break is now upon us, meaning the Bavarians will be keen on avoiding injuries. Next up for them is an encounter with Augsburg, who are battling relegation. Can the 16th-placed side pull off an upset against the defending champions? Tune in to find out.

Borussia Dortmund vs Stuttgart: The 2-1 loss at RB Leipzig has seen Dortmund fall four points behind in the title race, meaning they cannot afford to drop more points. A Signal Iduna Park showdown against Stuttgart awaits them. Similar to Augsburg, the visitors are also battling relegation, with a mere point separating them from the danger zone. Do not miss this tie.

Hoffenheim vs RB Leipzig: RB Leipzig have finally climbed up to the top five, leapfrogging Leverkusen due to a superior goal difference. Unfortunately, they will be in for a tricky test straight after the international break, with Nkunku and Co. set to take on 10th-placed Hoffenheim. The away side have, unfortunately, lost nearly half of their games (5) but will be keen on beating the German heavyweights nonetheless.
