Win this game and the Old Lady could secure their spot in the knockout stage. However, the Italian giants must overcome their poor form.

Preview

Juventus shift their focus back to the UEFA Champions League this midweek, where they have been performing best, as the Italian giants look to confirm their spot in the knockout stage. Their opponent on Tuesday will be Zenit, whom they overcome on Matchday 3, in what should be an intriguing encounter in Turin.

As mentioned earlier, the Old Lady boast an impeccable record in Europe so far. Three wins out of three, including a 1-0 triumph over reigning champions Chelsea, have the Bianconeri sitting top of the table in Group H.

The Serie A giants have struggled to score often in their first season since Cristiano Ronaldo's departure, which is understandable, as they have netted more than once in a single game on only one  occasion. However, their defensive resilience has been key, with Allegri's men conceding no goals so far – only Bayern Munich can match this feat.

A 3-0 win over Malmo in the opening round and a 1-0 victory in their first encounter with Zenit were Juventus' two other results. Should Dybala and Co. seal the three points on Tuesday,  their spot in the round of 16 would be confirmed.

Unfortunately, Juventus' domestic form makes for a grim reading. The Italian giants are winless in their last three games, all of which came in Serie A. An extremely late penalty saw them secure a point away to defending giants Inter Milan, but after that came back-to-back 2-1 defeats as the Bianconeri were beaten by Sassuolo and—more recently—Hellas Verona.

That result leaves them rotting in ninth, with Italian top-flight leaders Napoli boasting more than double their points (31 to Juventus' 15). The title race is done and dusted for Allegri's men, but with fourth-placed Roma sitting only four points ahead and a UEFA Champions League round of 16 berth being on the horizon, the Bianconeri must strive to make the knockout stage this term and secure their spot in next season's UCL campaign.

Zenit, meanwhile, have been in excellent form despite that late and narrow defeat at the hands of Juve. The visitors, who are both the defending champions and top of the league in the Russian Premier League, went on to win their two following fixtures after that European loss, smashing Spartak Moscow 7-1 before thrashing Dynamo Moscow 4-1.

It is of little surprise to see Sine-Belo-Golubye boasting a five-point advantage at the top. The Russian giants did suffer  back-to-back defeats prior to their hiccup against Juventus, but given the way they responded to that three-game losing streak, we can expect Sergei Semak's side to give the Old Lady a go.

Team news

Juventus: Question marks linger over Moise Kean, with the Italian forward recovering from an ankle injury. Mattia De Sciglio is out of contention, however.

Zenit: The visitors will have to make do without Magomed Ozdoev and Douglas Santos, both of whom are injured. Additionally, Malcom is a doubt, having picked up a knock as well.
