The league leaders and Porto will face a couple of tough rivals in their attempt to keep the top spot of the tournament all to themselves this weekend.

The 2021-22 Primeira Liga season has given fans quite a bit to talk about, and the next weekend promises to keep supporters waiting for more following the recent games played by those involved in the competition.

Benfica, Porto, and Sporting will continue their never-ending battle for the top spot, with the Eagles parting one point over both of their bitter rivals. Curiously, both Porto and Sporting remain unbeaten in the tournament, contrary to the fate of the league leaders who have already lost once. With that in mind, Benfica will try to keep up the good work while also maintaining both of their opponents at bay.

Let's have a closer look at what things look like ahead of this weekend's matches in the Portuguese top-flight.

Primeira Liga standings after Matchday 10

Benfica remain at the top of the table with 24 points, followed closely by Porto and Sporting with 23. Estoril and Braga complete the top five teams with 18 and 16 points respectively, while Portimonense are ten points behind the leaders.

On the lower side of the standings, teams such as Arouca (6 pts), Santa Clara (6 pts), and Belenenses (5 pts) are entangled in the battle to avoid relegation.

Top games to watch

Porto vs Boavista - The Dragons make it to this game after being eliminated from the Taça da Liga by Santa Clara, which means that Sergio Conceicao's men will want to get back on track with a convincing win in the Primeira Liga. Boavista, their rivals this Saturday, have not won any of their last six games (five draws, one loss), and if they don't want to slip further behind in the rankings, they will have to show some sort of improvement if they want to beat the title contenders at the Do Dragao.

Estoril vs Benfica - The league leaders will be facing one of the surprise teams of the 2021-22 Primeira Liga. Jorge Jesús' men barely defeated Vizela in their most recent league clash, while their Taca da Liga match against Vitoria Guimaraes ended in a 3-3 draw. Estoril's season, which has seen them win five of their nine games, has proven that the recently promoted side is back in the Portuguese top-flight for good, and this time around the yellow and blue side could give the Eagles a bit of a headache in their attempt to keep the top spot all to themselves.

Sporting vs Vitoria Guimaraes - The Lions have won four in a row and jumped back into the title race, and this time, the defending champions are set to face Vitoria Guimaraes at Jose Alvalade Stadium in what should be an entertaining game. The green and white side has won five in a row across all comps, while Vitoria has also made it through the last four games without any losses. With that in mind, the clash between these teams will be a must-watch for all football enthusiasts around the globe.
