Mid-week matches are a rare occasion in Germany. However, due to the late start to the season, the Bundesliga sides will play Match-day five fixtures on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Four fixtures are set for Tuesday while five are set for Wednesday. On Tuesday, Bayern welcomes a stuttering Wolfsburg. For Bayern this season, the ride has been smooth. They are yet to even draw a match in any competition. They have had some nervous moments but have dominated large portions of their games.

They took on Schalke on match-day four. The Schalke fans busied themselves with hassling Manuel Neuer in goal. However, Schalke, with the exception of a ten minute spell at the end of the first half, rarely ventured close to Neuer. Julian Draxler had a great chance to score or set up his side’s first when Jerome Boateng gifted the ball to him but failed to take advantage.

Wolfsburg will be extremely worried if Bayern includes the dynamic duo of Thomas Müller and Toni Kroos in their line-up. Kroos has scored in the past four consecutive matches for Bayern in all competitions. Each goal has been majestic. Müller has chalked up four strikes in the Bundesliga. Bayern is not really reliant on Mario Mandzukic for goals.

A 1-1 draw against Fürth will have been considered a poor result by Felix Magath. A messy own goal by Emmanuel Pogatetz saw Fürth take the lead. Ivica Olic in typical predatory style scored the equalizer. Wolfsburg has been humiliated once already this season. They wouldn’t want to be humiliated again so soon.

The team that Bayern beat, Schalke will look to rebound from their first loss of the season. They play Mainz, who picked up a well deserved first win against Augsburg on Saturday. Fürth meanwhile will take on their fellow promoted side Fortuna Düsseldorf. Düsseldorf has been involved in three 0-0 draws this season. They have to start scoring some goals soon.

In the biggest clash on Tuesday, Frankfurt, second only on goal difference in the table, takes on defending champions Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund’s 31-game unbeaten streak was brought to an end by HSV in the weekend while Frankfurt won 1-2 against Nürnberg. Frankfurt will also be the fresher of the two as they played on Friday.

Meanwhile, Armin Veh’s former side, Stuttgart, takes on Hoffenheim after managing to wrestle a 2-2 draw away from Bremen thanks to a late goal from Cacau. Martin Harnik will be suspended after his sending off. Hoffenheim picked up a win for the first time this season against an excellent Hannover side, 3-1. They will be confident of potentially winning this game.

Hannover, after their first defeat of the season in all competitions, will take on a side that is level with them on points, Nürnberg. They will look to rebound from the loss but might not be able to take all three points against the Bavarians. The side they beat 3-2 in match-day three, Bremen, after conceding yet another late goal, will travel to Freiburg. Freiburg was involved in a 0-0 draw, against, obviously, Fortuna Düsseldorf.

Finally, a dark horse for the title that has started the season rather poorly, Leverkusen, will take on Augsburg. Augsburg has not done well so far and will look to beat Bayer 04 to pick up a first season win. Leverkusen will have to be careful- their tally of points currently is a measly four from four matches. Düsseldorf has amassed more points than them.

So, will Bayern and Frankfurt continue winning this week? Tune in to find out on Tuesday and Wednesday!
