The two most winning teams in the region lock horns with the goal of lifting the cup this Thursday. Follow this clash with our detailed guide.

It has been a long road to the title match, and the CONCACAF will crown a new champion this evening between two Liga MX teams: Monterrey and Club América.

Monterrey will host the title clash in this new format, where the team with the better record throughout the competition got to host the title-deciding game. Los Rayados won five games and drew one more, while América claimed four wins, one draw, and one loss. Hence, the team from the northern side of Mexico earned the right to host Thursday's game.

Monterrey will play their fifth CONCACAF Champions League final. The team's overall record shows in such type of games shows four wins and no losses. The team coached by Javier Aguirre got to this game by defeating Atlético Pantoja with a 6-1 score, and the next tie ended in a 5-2 aggregate win against the Columbus Crew. Their semi-final matchup saw Los Rayados facing a Liga MX rival, Cruz Azul, which they defeated 5-1 with an impressive display away from home.

Los Rayados will get to this game while on a whopping four-game losing streak, which has seen them drop points against teams in the lower half of the Liga MX standings, such as Necaxa or Querétaro. Monterrey's last win of the season took place against Santos, a game they won 2-1.

On the other hand, América will make it to their eighth CONCACAF CL final, with Los Azulcremas winning everyone of those. The team led by Santiago Solari had an interesting run in the tournament, where they got past Olimpia thanks to the away goals rule after a 2-2 aggregate. Their next matchup would see the yellow and blue side facing the Portland Timbers, a team they eliminated with a 4-1 score after both games.  Their semi-final tie saw them face the Philadelphia Union, an MLS team they went on to defeat with a 4-0 aggregate.

Las Águilas will enter Thursday's clash while on a six-game streak without a loss, four of those ending in wins for Solari's men. Their only loss in the ongoing Liga MX tournament took place against Toluca over a month ago, and to boost their confidence, that unbeaten streak includes wins against top-caliber clubs such as Tigres (1-0), Pumas (2-0), and Santos (2-1).

The game will also give fans a chance to see some of the most notable Mexican players in Liga MX, including Rogelio Funes Mori, Argentine-born striker who plays for the Mexican team alongside América's Henry Martín. Other players to keep an eye on include none other than Mexican shot-stopper Guillermo Ochoa and former Boca Juniors goalkeeper Esteban Andrada, who is living his first months as Monterrey's main man under the sticks.

All in all, the clash between these Mexican teams is set to keep fans on the edge of their seats. Will América's consistency prevail over Monterrey and their home-field advantage? Here's a closer look at some facts ahead of this game.
