The Norwegian boss has faced quite a lot of criticism for the past couple of weeks, but it reached new heights after the team's 5-0 loss to Liverpool.

Sunday's loss to Liverpool seemed to be the breaking point between Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Manchester United, but it seems that the Norwegian boss will be given a chance to redeem himself.

Reports coming in from England suggested that the Red Devils had already singled out Antonio Conte as the Norwegian tactician's replacement. Nevertheless, a surprising turn of events seems to have given Solskjaer a new lifeline.

Earlier today, the team's board got together to determine whether Solskjaer was set to coach the team in their upcoming fixture against Tottenham, and apparently, Sir Alex Ferguson's presence and opinion were decisive to keep the under-fire coach around.

The report issued by The Guardian stated that Ferguson showed Solskjaer his support after Sunday's disappointing result, and his words were reportedly all Ed Woodward and owner Joel Glazer needed to hear to keep the former striker around.

Now, Solskjaer will seemingly have a chance to turn the team's fortunes around in three crucial games. The first one of those will be the aforementioned clash against Tottenham next weekend. Next up, the crucial UEFA Champions League game against Atalanta next week, and lastly, the Manchester Derby.
