The Argentine's cheeky goal proved to be the difference as PSG crawled back and secured three vital points against their German opponents.

Lionel Messi showed his class once again to inspire Paris Saint-Germain to what was a vital win in Tuesday night's UEFA Champions League group stage clash with RB Leipzig. The 34 years old attacker sealed a remarkable turnaround for Les Parisians who had to fight for all three points from being a goal down despite having opened the scoring.

With Neymar Jr absent for the night's match-up, the French capital club still had enough powerhouses in their ranks to compete against Leipzig in a bid to secure the maximum three points. Although it took just nine minutes for Kylian Mbappe to fire the host in front, Andre Silva's 28th minute strike ensured that the scoreline was par before the break. Nordi Mukiele then fired the visitors in front by scoring in the 57th minute before Lionel Messi grabbed the equalizer 10 minutes later.

In the end, the former Barcelona talisman emerged as the saviour with a penalty falling the way of PSG following a foul on Kylian Mbappe in the 74th minute. The Argentine attacker then stepped up to calmly dispatch a panenka down the middle to put his ahead. In the fourth minute of additional time, another penalty decision went the way of Les Parisians but, this time, Messi passed on the chance to potentially get a hat-trick and gave the ball to Mbappe who missed from the spot.

With the night's result, PSG took their point tally to seven and leapfrong Manchester City to occupy first position in Group A. Watch Lionel Messi's 'panenka' penalty below:
