Brazil will be poised to keep their unbeaten run going when they travel to Colombia for their next game of the campaign.

Preview

Brazil will visit Barranquilla to face Colombia in their next test of the Conmebol 2022 World Cup Qualifiers at El Metropolitano on Sunday. The Seleccao will be looking to claim their 10th successive victory in the ongoing camapaign with qualification to the next tournament in Qatar pretty much guarenteed. Tite's men approach Sunday's encounter after beating Venezuela in Caracas having come back from a 1-0 score to register a 3-1 win. So far, the 2021 Copa America runners-up have accumulated a maximum 27 points from their nine matches.

With Argentina drawing in their respective clash with Paraguay, It is almos certain that Brazil will finish as the winner of the South American qualifying campaign as they now lead the pack by eight points. With Albiceleste set to take on Uruguay on Sunday as well, the gap could potentially increase once more. Nevertheless, Brazil will be weary of the Colombians as they have proven to be a handful to deal with in recent meetings. In the last six clashes between the pair, the five-time world champions have been denied wins on three different occasions. In a broader perspective, they have only managed five wins across the last 12 meetings with Los Cafeteros.

This withstanding, the latter should be motivated to get the better of Tite's men, especially with a revenge mission on the table. The last time both sides met in a competitive encounter, the visitors came from behind to win 2-1 in the group stage of the Copa America, with Roberto Firmino scoring a dramatic 100th minute winner. Utimately, Colombia had to settle for the bronze medal after losing to Argentina in the semi-final and beating Peru in the 3rd-place Play-off.

Reinaldo Rivera's charges will approach Sunday's encounter on the back of a four-game unbeaten run since their triumph over the Peruvians. The run includes three disappointing with Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay, with a win over Chile sandwiched in-between. Their inconsistency has left them in fifth on the table, a position which is dicey as a slip up in any form could see them missing out on qualification for the World Cup. As such, they will be required to punch above their weight and get the best of the Brazilians who are well favored to snatch the win.
