The Dutchman will be hoping to make a good impression in his first game since joining the Rio de Janeiro giants.
Dutch midfielder Clarence Seedorf will make his first appearance for Botafogo against Gremio at the Engenhao stadium in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.

Seedorf, who joined Botafogo from AC Milan a few weeks ago, will be hoping to help the side escalate on the ladder in what promises to be an action-packed encounter against a Gremio side who sit pretty in the standings.

Another player who is likely to make his debut on the weekend is Internacional signing Diego Forlan. The Uruguayan striker was purchased to add depth to the Inter attack, and is expected to take the field against Atletico Goianense in Porto Alegre on Sunday.

Inter, who also recently signed Juan from Roma, will be unable to count with the services of a number of players for the clash, as while Oscar and Leandro Damiao are on international duty with Brazil, Argentine playmaker Andres D'Alessandro is suspended.

Flamengo, who failed in their attempts to acquire Boca Juniors midfielder Juan Roman Riquelme, will be looking to rebound from their devastating 3-0 defeat to Corinthians with a morale-boosting result against Cruzeiro, another of the teams who also tried to purchase the Argentine.

Corinthians, who incidentally beat Boca Juniors to lift the Copa Libertadores for the first time, will intend to continue with their fine form when they take on lowly Portuguesa at the Pacaembu stadium.

Meanwhile, league leaders Atletico Mineiro travel to the Ilha do Retiro stadium to battle with locals Sport Recife. The Belo Horizonte outfit come into the game after having downed Internacional 3-1 midweek.

Atletico Mineiro, who reinforced their squad with plenty of quality players including Ronaldinho, Jo and Victor, have attained 25 points, but a slip-up could see second-placed Vasco da Gama overtake them.

Vasco, one of the most exciting teams of the competition so far, will be looking to build on their 1-0 victory over Sao Paulo by overcoming a Santos outfit that will be without several key players, including Neymar, Paulo Henrique Ganso and Rafael, who on Friday helped Brazil overcome Great Britain 2-0 in a Olympic Games warm-up match.
