The Frenchman sat down for an interview with RMC Sport in which he talked about his desire to leave the Parc des Princes.

Throughout the summer, Kylian Mbappe was embroiled in a transfer saga, with the Frenchman being heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid. While the superstar did not get his exit, the issue of his future remains a major topic of discussion, with the player finally opening up and revealing everything behind the exit rumors.

The 2018 World Cup winner sat down for an interview with RMC Sport, which will be published in full on Tuesday. Regardless, juicy excerpts have already been released regarding the player's desire to leave the French capital.

Mbappe confirmed that he wanted out of the Parc des Princes, adding that he also informed the club of his desire to leave. However, according to the player, this occurred earlier than many might have assumed as he stated that he communicated his intentions way back in July.

The former Monaco sensation looked to clear his name as he was left unhappy by the fact that this issue dragged on all the way until the final week of the summer transfer window. Mbappe's goal was clear: he wanted to leave PSG a year before his contract ends, sealing the move of his dreams while securing his club a substantial transfer fee.

"I asked to leave, because from the moment I did not want to extend [my contract], I wanted the club to have a transfer fee to find a quality replacement," Mbappe told Jerome Rothen of RMC Sport.

"It is a club that has given me a lot, I have always been happy, the four years I spent here, and I am still happy. I announced it early enough … I said, if you don't want me to leave, I'll stay."

The Bleus talent also aired his frustration regarding the narrative, refuting claims that he had only informed the club of his decision in August, saying: "Personally, I did not appreciate the fact that they said I came [with the news he wanted to leave] the last week of August. I said at the end of July that I wanted to go."

Los Blancos, who are the favorites to sign Mbappe, were said to have made a late offer for the Frenchman worth $232.6M, which the French giants turned down. Given that Kylian is out of contract next summer, many have been wondering why the Qatari-owned side turned down the golden opportunity to recoup the fee they paid for the former Monaco ace when he appears all but destined to leave for free in a few months' time.

Well, Kylian's next statement might offer a hint. The 22-year-old insisted that while he decided on leaving, he did not turn down several contract offers from the club as reported in the media. Furthermore, the attacker stressed that while he did not get his move, he remains happy in the French capital.

"People said that I rejected six or seven offers to extend my contract or that I had stopped talking with Leonardo, but that's not true at all," he added.

"I have always been happy at the club in my four years here and I still am."

Is Nasser Al-Khelaifi hopeful of convincing the Real Madrid target to stay despite his soon-to-be expired contract? This remains uncertain but we can expect more clarity regarding the player's future once the January transfer window rolls up.
