Juve's bad run in Serie A continues

Juventus vs Milan: Bianconeri match unwanted record after horrible start

September 20, 2021 By Michelle Bonsu
Juventus's awful run in the league continues after another disappointing result on Sunday.

On Sunday Juventus and Milan, two of Italy's biggest sides, went head to head as each team looked to naturally pick up a much needed win. For the Bianconeri, a victory was even more crucial considering their horrible start to the Serie A season. Indeed, despite finally ending their winless run in all comps thanks to a pretty straightforward 3-0 win over Swedish minnows Malmo in the Champions League, the pressure still was on Massimiliano Allegri's side to finally get some points on the board in the league.

Meanwhile, Milan, who are unbeaten so far in the league, ended up on the wrong end of proceedings during a five-goal thriller against Liverpool, so it's safe to say that Stefano Pioli was looking for a reaction from his side against a very familiar foe.

Well, the match ended as a one-all draw, with both Ante Rebic and Alvaro Morata getting on the scoresheets for Milan and Juventus respectively. Yet, although they picked up a point, it will definitely feel like two points lost for Juventus, who now continue to hang around the drop zone with just two points from their first four games.

Again, Juventus took the lead, but were unable to take advantage, meaning they've conceded in their last 18 league games. In fact, they haven't kept a clean sheet in over six months.

And to make things worse, Sunday's result means that Juventus have now matched a rather unwanted precedent:

Should they fail to win their upcoming tie with Spezia, who are in their sophomore term in Serie A, it's certain that things will obviously get much more uncomfortable for Allegri and his side.
