The Portuguese league returned this weekend with a bang after the international break.

The Portuguese Priemera returned with a bang this weekend with a few movements happening across the table in what was the fifth gameweek of the compeition. Title favorites Sporting CP and FC Porto went head to head inside the José Alvalade Stadium and it proved to be a classic with both sides sharing the spoils in one-all encounter.

Their other counterparts in the title race, Benfica, capitalized on the points dropped by the two sides to stretch their lead atop the table, registering a 5-0 win over Santa Clara. Estoril have made waves so far and continued their fine form by securing a 2-1 away win over Tondela.
