The youngster was stretched off with what appeared to be a dislocated ankle.

Liverpool winger Harvey Eliiot has taken to social media to calm the nerves of his fans following his horrific injury in Sunday's clash with Leeds United. The teenager has updated fans on his condition with his club also issuing a statement to effect. 

The 18-year-old was taken off on a stretcher after falling awkardly following a late challenge by Leeds defender Pascal Struijk who was subsequently sent off. A replay of the incident revealed that the player had potentially dislocated his ankle, sparking concern on the Liverpool bench as well as the traveling fans. A statement released by the club after their 3-0 victory reads as follows: "Liverpool Football Club can confirm Harvey Elliott has been discharged from hospital after suffering a serious ankle injury in the game against Leeds United on Sunday.

"The 18-year-old was stretchered from the field at Elland Road after sustaining the injury in a challenge midway through the second half. Elliott will be required to undergo surgery in the coming days and the club will offer a further update on his prognosis in due course.

"Harvey, his family and Liverpool FC would like to place on record their thanks to the paramedics and all the staff at Leeds General Infirmary for the care and treatment given."

The player, who is slowly becoming a fan favorite and a regular in the Liverpool starting lineup, took to his Instagram story to state his appreciation for the support he has received so far.

Pascal Struijk also issued an apology to the young midfielder through the social media platform.
