As expected, there are now some changes in the league table after the conclusion of matchday three in Serie A.

At the start of matchday three, there were five teams: AC Milan, Inter, Lazio, Napoli, and Roma who were all on six points, thanks to winning their first two games of the season. That was bound to change this past weekend, especially considering two of them - the Rossoneri and the Biancocelesti - were going to lock horns on Sunday.

But how exactly has the table now shifted?

Here's all you need to know following this weekend's Serie A action.

Top Serie A headlines

Juventus's nightmare start continues: On Saturday, the Bianconeri took on Napoli in a must-win game for the Turin titans, but it wasn't to be as they ended up losing 2-1. This means that Massimiliano Allegri's men have picked up just one point so far this term, and while it's still early, it's not an auspicious start for a team who were barely able to scrape into fourth spot last campaign. Still, it's not the worst start Juventus have faced, and there's still time for them to shake off the funk that has dogged them since the start of the season. However, it won't be easy, though, as they'll take on Milan in their next match this weekend.

Milestone game and record set for Mourinho: What a day for Jose Mourinho and Roma. The Portuguese tactician was overseeing his 1,000th game as a manager and was hoping to help guide the Giallorossi to win six straight matches at the Stadio Olimpico for the first time since 2017. Well, mission accomplished - Stephan El Shaarawy's late goal was enough to dispatch Sassuolo after the Neroverdi were clinging on for a point. And in doing so, it also marks a personal milestone for Mourinho, who's now won five games in a row for the first time in his managerial history at any of his prior clubs.

Inter drop points in shocking draw: It wasn't a great day for the Nerazzurri, who were unfortunate to drop two points against a stubborn Sampdoria side who were desperate for a result in front of their home crowd. Twice, Inter took the lead, and twice, Sampdoria clawed their way back in to set up a very tense battle that the reigning Scudetto champs were unable to win.

Milan continue their excellent start: For the second straight season, Milan have won their first three games, and ensured that their formidable record against Lazio endures. To date, the Rossoneri have lost just one of their last 32 meetings (including Sunday's match) versus the Aquile at the Stadio San Siro. The match also saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic return following a long injury lay-off, and the veteran striker opened his account shortly after coming on in the second half. In addition, Maurizio Sarri ended up losing his temper and was dismissed just before injury time, thus concluding a very disappointing and frustrating evening for the visitors.

Top Serie A matches: September 17 to September 19, 2021

Inter vs Bologna: After their surprise draw with Sampdoria, the Nerazzurri will have a chance to redeem themselves as they take on Bologna. Will Simone Inzaghi's men get themselves sorted out and get back to winning ways in this upcoming tie at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza?

Juventus vs Milan: It's safe to say that Allegri will be desperate for a result when his team take on his former side at the Allianz Stadium. However, Milan continue to go from strength to strength, and will be boosted even more with the return of Olivier Giroud to action ahead of this tie. Given how Juve have really struggled, this game could present another stern test, especially as they failed to beat Napoli last weekend.

Hellas Verona vs Roma: Mourinho's troops are now on top of the table thanks their superior goal difference and will have another great opportunity to make it five wins in five league games as they'll be taking on struggling Hellas Verona. Will this high-flying side continue to soar as so far their performances have captured the imagination of Italy?
