The former Primavera coach believes it is essential for his side to pick up the three points against Fiorentina to inch closer towards their objective.
Inter Milan know that they will face a must-win situation when they travel to the Stadio Artemio Franchi to take on hosts Fiorentina on Sunday, because if the Nerazzurri fail to return home with the three points they could kiss goodbye to their chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season.

Andrea Stramaccioni, the coach of Inter, understands the importance of the match and that of earning a spot in Europe's maximum club competition, but he is wary of the possible threat posed by a struggling Fiorentina outfit who find themselves in a devastating 16th position of the Serie A and in danger of being relegated to the Serie B next season.

"I think the Viola are going through a good period despite their low position in the standings, as they did well against both AC Milan and Palermo," said Stramaccioni, whose Inter side remain unbeaten since he was appointed the interim coach of the club, with two wins and a draw from three games.

"Surely the coaching ability of Delio Rossi and their collective desire to get out of the bad situation they are in will be prevalent tomorrow. The Artemio Franchi is a difficult venue for any team," he continued.

However, he also affirmed that Inter find themselves in good form and should rate their chances of obtaining a positive result on Sunday.

"We've been fine in training, and there is a positive atmosphere. We have the right mix of enthusiasm and concentration, but we must realise this tomorrow.

"We will try our hardest to reach the Champions League, but right now the important thing is to get a result," concluded the coach.

The Nerazzurri have risen up to seventh place since Stramaccioni replaced Claudio Ranieri in March, but with 48 points they are six points from the third and final Champions League spot, which currently belongs to Lazio.
