The Gunners turned up at the Etihad Stadium for Saturday's early kick-off but that fixture, unfortunately, quickly turned into a nightmare.

Arsenal took on Man City in the English Premier League's Matchweek 3 kick-off, traveling to the Etihad Stadium in what everyone expected to be a tough fixture for the Gunners. Unfortunately, that tie quickly turned into a nightmare for Arteta's men.

Everything began with the starting eleven, with fans airing their frustrations after seeing Kolasinac and Chambers named in a back three. The north London giants began the game well, giving early optimism to the traveling fans and watchers, but it did not take long for the defending champions to punish the visitors.

Poor defending saw Gundogan break the deadlock after seven minutes, heading the ball past a helpless Bernd Leno. Five minutes later, Guardiola's side doubled their lead, with Ferran Torres netting courtesy of—once again—comical defending.

Just after the half-an-hour mark, things were made all the more worse as Granit Xhaka was shown a straight red after a two-footed challenge on the opposition. This left an already overrun Arsenal midfield down a man, eventually leading to a third goal, this time scored by Gabriel Jesus.

Xhaka's sending off saw him move level with Fernandinho and David Luiz for the most sending offs since the Swiss midfielder arrived in England. This game also saw the Gunners go down 2-0 the quickest since 2017 against Man United.

Unfortunately, things did not get better for the club in the second half. Rodri quickly found the back of the net after the break to make it 4-0. It will be interesting to see what the ramifications of this result are and what it will mean for Arteta's future.
