The Brazilian giants will not only have to beat Lanus, but will have to rely on another result going their way in order to progress to the following round of the competition.

Apr 12, 2012: Flamengo vs Lanus

Ronaldinho and co. face what could be labelled 'mission impossible' to advance to the round of 16 stage of the Copa Libertadores, because not only do Flamengo need to beat Group 2 leaders Lanus in Rio de Janeiro, but they have to hope Olimpia and Emelec share the spoils in Thursday's other group game. A group stage elimination for the Brazilian giants would be nothing less than devastating.

Apr 12, 2012: Olimpia vs Emelec

Olimpia and Emelec lock horns in a game which will possibly decide which of the two sides will progress to the round of 16 stage of the competition. Olimpia, three-time champions of South America, currently find themselves with 7 points, one more point than Emelec with 6, but will need to triumph in Asuncion to confirm their spot in the following round. Much is expected of both sides in arguably the most important game of the round.

Apr 12, 2012: Alianza Lima vs Libertad

Libertad assured themselves of passage into the following phase of the competition, after their last-gasp 2-1 victory over Nacional last week. But the Paraguayans will be after the three points on their visit to Alianza Lima, because if they manage to win and Vasco drop points in Montevideo, they will top Group 5 with 13 points.

Apr 12, 2012: Nacional vs Vasco

Vasco da Gama will be hoping to finish top of Group 5 when they travel to Montevideo to take on the already eliminated Nacional at the Parque Central stadium. Vasco will be hoping to avenge their 2-1 home defeat to the Uruguayans, as it would be a great morale boost ahead of the round of 16 stage of the competition. The last time Vasco won the competition was in 1998, when they beat Barcelona of Ecuador in the final.
