Legendary playmakers Juan Sebastian Veron and Juan Roman Riquelme will be hoping to inspire their respective clubs to victory in what has the potential to be a mouthwatering encounter.

All eyes will be on the Estadio Unico de La Plata, when Estudiantes de La Plata lock horns with Boca Juniors in the top-of-the-table league clash on Sunday. Estudiantes currently lead the Argentine Clausura championship with 15 points, one more point than defending champions Boca, with 14, after seven rounds. A further ingredient that will add spice to the encounter is the fact that two of Argentina's most respected playmakers will be head-to-head, in the form of Estudiantes' Juan Sebastian Veron and Boca's Juan Roman Riquelme. Expect a fascinating game between two serious title contenders.

Also on Sunday, fierce rivals San Lorenzo and Velez Sarsfield clash, in a derby which has gained greater significance in recent years, but unfortunately off the field rather than on it. Velez will be hoping to return to winning ways, after slipping up at home to Newell's Old Boys in their last league outing, while San Lorenzo will be desperate to obtain a positive result that would help them in their fight against relegation to the second division. San Lorenzo, one of Argentina's 'big five' clubs currently find themselves in the relegation zone, and come into the game winless in their last two league games.

Finally, All Boys take on Arsenal de Sarandi and Newell's Old Boys entertain Racing Club in Sunday's other most significant matches. Fans should expect another weekend of great soccer, as the Argentine Clausura championship has been very entertaining so far.

Apr 1, 2012: All Boys vs Arsenal

Arsenal travel to the Floresta to face All Boys in a clash between two teams who have been in good form this season. Arsenal, who were beaten 2-0 by Boca Juniors in the Copa Libertadores midweek, have won three successive league games coming into the game, and will be hoping to continue to escalate in the championship. Rivals All Boys are fighting against the drop, and the three points would be very valuable for them.

Apr 1, 2012: San Lorenzo vs Velez Sarsfield

San Lorenzo and Velez Sarsfield lock horns in what is expected to be a very hotly-contested encounter. Recent meetings between the sides have been marred by violence, to the point that fans have even lost their lives. Hopefully Sunday's match can be violence free, so that fans can concentrate on the soccer. Due to the fact that both teams count with excellent squads, the soccer should be of the highest quality.

Apr 1, 2012: Newell's Old Boys vs Racing Club

Newell's come into their clash with Racing with three wins on the trot, including a 1-0 win over Velez in Liniers last Monday, and will be hoping to close-in on league leaders Estudiantes with another win. The Rosario-based outfit count with an abundance of talent in their squad, and have everything that it takes to beat Racing. For many Alfio Basile's Racing were one of the contenders to fight for the title, but things haven't gone exactly to plan, as they currently lie in a disappointing eleventh place, with only two wins from their first seven games.

Apr 1, 2012: Estudiantes vs Boca Juniors

First meets second in Sunday's much awaited top-of-the-table league clash between front-runners Estudiantes de La Plata and Boca Juniors. Estudiantes are the only team who have yet to taste defeat after seven rounds of the Argentine Clausura championship, and will be hoping to extend their unbeaten run against the defending champions. Boca, who are juggling the Clausura, the Copa Argentina and the Copa Libertadores, know that Estudiantes are perhaps their strongest league competition this season and will be desperate to return to the Bombonera with the three points.
