‘Exciting’ is the only word which can describe the Bundesliga action which will take place tomorrow.
Köln always is a very entertaining side- regarding matters on and off the pitch. After having been absolutely thumped 4-1 by Hanover last week, they take to the pitch against the holders Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund was in action in mid-week in the DFB Pokal. It took them a full 120 minutes to dispose of SpVgg Greuther Furth with Ilkay Guendogan scoring the winner in the final minute of extra time.

Other matches include a contest between Hoffenheim and Monchengladbach, who were also in cup action during the week. Bayern takes on Hanover, a contest which has seen Hanover come out on top in the previous two meetings. The biggest match of the weekend takes places between two of the most exciting sides of the league, fourth placed Schalke and fifth placed Leverkusen.

Dortmund will play Bayern in the Pokal final in May. Bayern finally overcame Gladbach at the third time of asking this season. They didn’t win in normal time or in extra time in the Pokal semi-final but certainly had chances to do so. At the end, they had Manuel Neuer to thank for two glorious saves from Marco Reus in normal time and a penalty save from Harvard Nordtveit in the shoot-out.

Bayern prevailed 4-2 on penalties. The confidence in the team was evident when 19 year old David Alaba stepped up to take the first penalty and slotted it in calmly past Marc Andre ter Stegen. Bayern did not miss a single spot-kick. Hanover beat the Bayern side that was unstoppable in the earlier part of the season, 2-1.

They come into the match in good form and will be confident of taking down a tired Bayern. Jupp Heynckes will have one look ahead to the game on Wednesday against Marseille and might change the team accordingly.

Gladbach takes on Hoffenheim, hoping to recover from an absolutely gut wrenching defeat in the cup. Marco Reus and co were reduced to tears at the end of the semi-final. Hoffenheim lost to Stuttgart 1-2 last week. Gladbach beat Leverkusen by the same score-line. Lucien Favre should be quietly confident as his team is more than capable of beating Hoffenheim.

Schalke absolutely battered Kaiserslautern last week. FCK hence have a new coach at the helm who goes by the name of Krassimir Balakov. They play a stubborn and fired up Freiburg side. Schalke takes on Leverkusen, a match which promises an open game considering the attacking options of both sides as well as the defensive frailties.

Leverkusen hasn’t recovered perhaps from the bashing they got from Barcelona. They have lost both their league matches following that one, even though, to be fair, Gladbach’s winner against them came at a very late stage of the match.

Will the Bundesliga table look any different after this week? Let me know what you think.
