The Argentine outfit travel to Ecuador in search of a victory that would make them sit pretty in Group 2 of the Copa Libertadores.
Lanus striker Mariano Pavone is convinced that his team will pick up a crucial victory when they travel to Guayaquil to take on Emelec in a Copa Libertadores group match on Tuesday.

The Argentine outfit find themselves in third place of Group 2, with four points, after having drawn one, lost one and won one of their three group games thus far. Incidentally, Lanus' only victory came against Emelec in Buenos Aires, courtesy of a late strike from Pavone.

"It will be a difficult match, tough, but we will come out in search of the three points," Pavone declared to the press, upon his arrival to Ecuador.

The former River Plate attacker also voiced his opinion about Lanus' opponents, by stating:

"Emelec are very strong here [in Ecuador]. In Argentina they demonstrated that they are a team which made things difficult for us to win. As well as this, here the climate is complicated, it will surely be very humid, but we are optimistic about returning home with a victory."

Meanwhile, Marcelo Fleitas, the Uruguayan coach of Emelec, affirmed that his team will be looking for the triumph at all moments, because with two losses from three games they don't really have any other choice.

"Emelec will be offensive right from the start of the game, we won't change our approach, even if, we didn't obtain good results against Flamengo and Lanus, but we are conscious that playing like this we will complicate any opponents," he stated.

Fans can expect a fiercely-contested affair, as a defeat for either side could spell the end of their respective Copa Libertadores campaigns.
