The Inter Milan striker is closing in on a return to Chelsea.

Romelu Lukaku has reportedly boarded a private jet and is on his way to to London ahead of his move to Chelsea. The 28-year-old striker is expected to complete his medical and finalise his return to Stamford Bridge in a deal that will cost his former club in the excess of $135M.

Lukaku's return to Chelsea has been an open secret in recent weeks with the Blues having arrived at the doorstep of Inter Milan in their search for a striker this summer. Having left Stamford Bridge in 2014 after making just 15 appearances for the current Champions League holders, the Belgian striker has successfully made a name for himself by developing into a fine forward. With careers spanning across West Brom, Everton, Manchester United and Inter Milan, he has now scored over 250 goals in more than 500 appearances.

The former Chelsea academy star will be returning to the London club in his prime and just a season after helping Inter Milan to their first Scudetto in a decade by scoring 24 goals in the campaign. According to Sky Sports, the Belgium international finished the first part of his medical in Milan and should complete whole process in London on Tuesday. At the moment, Chelsea's representatives have the paperworks and once it everything is formalised, the player will sign a five-year contract that will see him earning $277,000 every week.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are said to be keen on getting the deal over the line before 11pm UK time on Tuesday so that Lukaku can be registered by UEFA to be considered eligible for the UEFA Super Cup clash with Villarreal on Wednesday.
