The Blues are looking to bring the Belgian forward back to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are preparing a third offer to sign Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan this summer after having two bids rejected by the Serie A club. The new offer is expected to force the Nerazzurri's hand to sanction the 28-year-old striker's sale despite previously stating that he is not for sale.

Chelsea are in the market to recruit a new attacker after struggling to get goals through their traditional forwards last season. It was reported earlier that the Blues were keen on securing the service of Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland with the Norwegian still showing great signs of becoming a world class striker despite being only 21 years old.

With Dortmund refusing to budge on their $200M valuation of the former RB Salzburg striker, Chelsea have turned their attention elsewhere and are now keen on reuniting with Lukaku - a former academy star. The Belgian international endured a torrid time at Manchester United between 2017 and 2019, despite impressing at West Brom and Everton in previous spells.

His shortcomings at Old Trafford led to his sale to Inter Milan for a reported fee of $95M. Since joining the Nerazzurri, the striker has been overly impressive, scoring 64 goals in 95 appearances across all competitions. Last season, he was adjudged the Serie A player of the season after his goals guided the Guissepe Meaza outfit to their first Serie A title in over a decade.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Lukaku has caught the eye of the Chelsea board who are now fully committed to bringing him back to Stamford Bridge. They have already had two bids rejected by Inter Milan - one that included a $119M offer and Marcos Alonso - but are now preparing a new one in the excess of $154M.

Meanwhile the player is said to be committed to starting the new season with Inter Milan and has ruled out an immediate return to the Premier League. Regardless, Inter are expected to consider the fresh bid and most likely sanction the players sale.
