Roma & Zytara Labs secure three year deal

Roma secure three-year kit sponsorship deal worth $42 million

July 29, 2021 By Michelle Bonsu
The Giallorossi have been quite busy off the pitch over the past few months.

It's safe to say that Roma have been quite busy over the past few months. Not only did the Giallorossi appoint a new coach, with Jose Mourinho making a return to Italy a decade after winning the Treble with Inter, but also the capital club have undergone some major changes off the pitch as well.

From replacing Nike as their kit manufacturer with New Balance to extending their deal with Korean car manufacturer Hyundai, it's been a real season of change for Roma. And now, they've finally settled on the company that will be on the front of their kits starting from this upcoming season.

As Roma fans and other Serie A followers are probably aware, Qatar Airways and Roma have enjoyed a partnership over the past few years. However, the Giallorossi leadership have decided to move in a new direction, and to that end, they've gone for something totally unexpected.

DigitalBits, a blockchain provider, now becomes the latest organization to have the privilege of being on the front of Roma's kits. The company, which fall under the larger entity Zytara Labs, and Roma have now finalized a three year deal worth $42 million (€36 million).

This is the first of its kind for both company and club, and DigitalBits will have their logo on all three of Roma's kits (home, away, and alternate). In addition, this innovative collaboration will see DigitalBits and Roma partner up in creating official Giallorossi blockchain-oriented digital assets, while cryptocurrency would be added as a new payment method for goods and services provided by the Giallorossi. Another facet of this partnership will see the creation of digital player cards that would highlight both historical and present events in the club's history.

Roma join a small group of teams who've decided to partner up with blockchain companies, with reigning Scudetto winners Inter and Spanish outfit Valencia recently inking a deal with Chiliz.
