The Frenchman's contract expires next summer, forcing the Ligue 1 giants into chaos.

Kylian Mbappe is back at PSG, having returned from his extended holiday after his disappointing Euro 2020 campaign with France. As expected, the world-class attacker underwent medical examination before having a sit-down with head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

The main point of discussion was the Frenchman's future in Paris as he has entered the final year of his Les Parisiens contract. According to Marca, thee 22-year-old was clear with his intentions: the former Monaco starlet will not be signing an extension despite the ongoing attempts to tie him to a new deal.

Mbappe reported for duty at PSG on Friday but according to the reports, he might not be around for too long

His current contract runs out next summer but out of respect for his current employers, Mbappe will not force an exit. However, it is not in his plan to remain in the French capital past 2022 as he allegedly has his eyes set on a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

It remains to be seen what Nasser Al-Khelaifi's next move will be. Will he maintain his battle to keep the World Cup winner at the Parc des Princes, move to cash in on the striker this summer, or retain his services for one more season in the hopes of winning the UEFA Champions League only to see him leave for free in 12 months? Time will tell.

Los Blancos have not begun negotiations just yet and are simply waiting for the "ideal moment" to open dialogue with the player and club. There are two reasons for this, the first being Florentino Perez's cordial relationship with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, which he intends on maintaining. Secondly, the ball is already in Real Madrid's favor, meaning they can bide their time.

Whether Los Merengues will make a move this summer or wait a year to land Kylian for free remains unclear. Acquiring his signature as early as possible would be the preference but given the club's dire financial situation, which was brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Spanish side might not be able to afford him this summer.
