2012 Africa Cup of Nations: Watch out for more live action on Matchday 2

January 24, 2012 By Angela Asante
You won’t get enough of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations until it ends on February 12. In the meantime, get ready for more action as Matchday 2 begins on Thursday, January 25, 2012.

2012 AFCON Followers of the competition got served with 8 great matches on Matchday 1. Equatorial Guinea opened the show in great fashion. They recorded a vital 1-0 victory against Libya thanks to a late goal from Balboa.

Zambia sealed the wonderful night with a 2-1 triumph over Senegal. The Chipolopolo will have the chance to step closer to qualification at the Estadio de Bata.

Libya vs Zambia will open Matchday 2 of the 2012 AFCON. Equatorial Guinea vs Senegal will provide thrills as the co-hosts would want to test their power against the Teranga Lions. If the Senegalese don’t improve from their poor form against the Zambians, Equatorial Guinea may clinch their second victory on the trot.

On Friday, the Palancas Negras of Angola will affront Sudan. The latter lost to Cote d’Ivoire, but only narrowly. Can they bounce back and throw the Angolans into real trouble ahead of Matchday 3? Don’t be surprised if Sudan vs Angola produces a close contest with few goals.

In the day’s second kick-off, Cote d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso will lock horns. Didier Drogba gave his side a vital 1-0 win last week but his performance, along with that of the entire Ivoirian team, wasn’t impressive. How will the Elephants cope with the energetic Stallions of Burkina Faso?

Meanwhile, Morocco face a big task after losing out to bitter rivals Tunisia. Arsenal’s Marouane Chamakh has yet to shine at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations. Gabon vs Morocco could mean an early exit for the Gunner and his other national team mates. Niger vs Tunisia will round up the action in Group C.

Finally on Saturday, Guinea and Botswana will clash against each other at the Stade de Franceville. Both teams share the same aim, which is to recover from defeat in the opening game. Botswana vs Guinea might just be the sort of match to not miss!

However, all eyes will be set on the action at the stadium during the Ghana vs Mali match. This encounter will provide a personal battle between third-placed CAF player of the year Dede Ayew and Mali’s Seydou Keita who ranked second in the awards.

If you don’t know where to watch the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, go on any match page you like and browse through the live streaming and TV schedule list. Gabon-Equatorial Guinea is here for your entertainment!
