Chelsea and their high-profile attacker Raheem Sterling have held clear-the-air talks following a public fall-out that stemmed from the Englishman's exclusion from Sunday's squad for their 2024-25 Premier League opener.
The four-time Premier League winner was not called up to the squad for his side's clash against former club Manchester City, which they lost 2-0. This culminated in a public statement from the player's representatives after being contacted by the Daily Mail for comment regarding his Stamford Bridge situation.
The player's representatives asked for clarity regarding the Englishman's future at the Bridge. Chelsea and newly-appointed head coach Enzo Maresca later announced that the 29-year-old is surplus to requirements and will not be played.
As a result, the attacker has held talks with the London giants, and according to the Daily Mail, both parties agreed that Sterling should leave the club this summer.
Many wondered whether the player would sit on his astronomical wages, with the player reportedly earning £325,000 a week. However, Raheem will collaborate with Chelsea to find an exit. While a loan was initially touted, both parties have agreed that a permanent exit is ideal.
Sterling has not been to Cobham since his representatives made that statement regarding his future and he has been excused from training on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Maresca informed the player that he is not part of his plans and will thus get little to no minutes during the Italian's reign. As a result, Raheem will train away from the first team, joining the likes of Ben Chilwell and Trevoh Chalobah, who are also up for sale, in exile.
Enzo Maresca on Raheem Sterling out of the project: "I've been honest, he will have no minutes here".

It remains to be seen whether Sterling will be barred from using first-team facilitates should he fail to leave before the summer transfer window closes next Friday. Aston Villa and — to a lesser degree — Arsenal have been loosely linked but concrete interest in the Englishman is yet to surface.
