The Women's Soccer Tournament 2024 Olympic Games is in full swing, and that means that there will be more soccer games in store for fans around the world.
Matchday one certainly did not disappoint, as none of the games finished as dull scoreless draws, and in fact, five of the six matches saw a total of three goals or more scored between the two sides. Brazil's match against Nigeria, which finished as a 1-0 win in favor of the South American giants after a tough battle, was the only exception to this occurrence.
Once again, as was the case on matchday one, matchday two fill feature a total of three double-headers. The first of these double headers gets underway at 11 am EST (8 am PST), with Brazil, who earned a gritty 1-0 win over Nigeria on matchday one, taking on a Japan side who were beaten 2-1 by Spain in their 2024 Olympic Games opener. Simultaneously, New Zealand and Colombia, who lost their respective clashes against Canada and France by one goal margins (2-1 and 3-2), will need to turn things around if they want to stay afloat in their group.
Later on, the second of the three double headers kicks off at 1 pm EST (10 am PST). Australia, who were humiliated 3-0 by a Germany side keen on making a point this summer, will look to rebound when they take on Zambia, who were no match for the USWNT as the Stars and Stripes cruised to a very comfortable 3-0 victory. Spain, who have kicked off their debut Olympic Games appearance in fine form following a 2-1 win over Japan, will be the favorites to clinch a win over Nigeria - but the Super Falcons will be equally determined to turn their fortunes around after a 1-0 loss to Brazil earlier this week.
Finally, the 3 pm EST (12 pm PST) double header will feature two titanic tussles. Both the USWNT and Germany recorded identical 3-0 wins over their matchday one opponents, and both sides are determined for redemption after poor showings at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup. As such, this could be a really great game for both fans and neutrals alike and a true test of each of these team's credentials. In addition, hosts France, who successfully held Colombia off in a five goal thriller, will seek to use their home pitch advantage to full effect as they face reigning Olympic Games champions Canada.
