The halfway point of the MLS season is here, and before the start of the Leagues Cup, the best players of the league will lock horns against their Liga MX counterparts in what should be an electric match at Lower.com Field in Columbus, the home of the current MLS Cup champions.

The clash between the stellar lineups will continue the tradition established since the league's inception, with this being the 21st edition in which an MLS All-Star team faces a club or a team made specifically for that purpose.

Let us have a look at both teams.

MLS All-Star Team

Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez were voted to be part of the team, but both international stars declined after playing in the Copa América. With that in mind, the MLS' roster for the game will be:

Goalkeepers: Roman Burki, Hugo Lloris, Maarten Paes.

Defenders: Keegan Rosenberry, Jordi Alba, Moise Bombito, Rudy Camacho, Justen Glad, Aaron Herrera, Thiago Martins, Steven Moreira, Luca Orellano

Picking this team was not complicated for América's coach Jardiné, since at least half of the nominees earned their spot after being nominated to the competition's Golden Ball. The rest of the players were picked by the boss and with a couple of selections by league president, Mikel Arriola.

Goalkeepers: Luis Ángel Malagón, Kevin Mier, Fernando Tapia.

Defenders: Jesús Angulo, Brian García, Bryan González, Alan Mozo, Alexis Peña, Gonzalo Piovi, Guido Pizarro.
