The Mexican top-flight will live its final week before a month's pause due to the Leagues Cup with interesting matches to follow. With the competition still in its young stages, there is still much to play for in the Apertura 2024, and all clubs will want to give their fans a good impression in their final game before battling their MLS counterparts.

As things stand, the only team in the competition with a perfect record is Cruz Azul, but this time La Máquina will put that status at risk when they lock horns against a tough contender that could knock them off the top spot. On the other hand, the only team without a point after three fixtures is Querétaro, who will have to look for answers when they visit one of the most dominant teams in the league.

The other item to keep an eye on has to do with the defending champions, América. Following a last-minute loss to Tigres, Las Águilas need to bounce back in a second away clash in a row. Luckily for them, their recent performances at the venue they are about to visit have gone will, and any other result could only be labeled a surprise.

Here are the most relevant games to keep an eye on.

Top games to watch

Monterrey vs Querétaro - The hosts escaped Necaxa's Estadio Victoria with a win, but their fans are unhappy due to a 4-0 loss to Cruz Azul. Luckily, their next game seems to be a win-win situation for both Monterrey and their fans, as they will be facing Querétaro, the only team in the competition without any wins and who dropped the ball big time against Chivas last Tuesday. Now, Monterrey seem to have everything in their favor, as they are unbeaten in their last five games against Querétaro.

Cruz Azul vs Toluca - The game between these teams could easily be the best of the week, with both of them defending their unbeaten status and with some unfinished business after their last clash. La Máquina have nothing but wins after three games, and one more here would keep their fans dreaming of their tenth title. Facing them will be Toluca, one of the most consistent teams from last season and who have earned seven points so far in the competition, including a three-nil win last Wednesday. The last clash between these teams up until today was a one-nil win in the final game of the last regular season, which saw La Máquina leapfrogging Toluca in the title race.

Juárez vs América - The start of the season has been far from what was expected from these teams, especially if one of them is the defending champion. América have lost two games already (as many as they lost last tournament), which makes this trip to face Juárez crucial. One more loss, with the Leagues Cup right around the corner, would create unnecessary tension close to the team, but a win here, with two more players available for their coach, could be key to get them back on track. As for the hosts, Mauricio Barbieri's team has only collected one point this season, and their real intention will be to revert their three-game losing streak against América when playing as hosts.
