The English Football League and CBS Sports have announced a massive multi-year broadcast rights agreement that will offer the widest distribution of EFL matches within the United States.
CBS Sports will cover at least 250 EFL matches in all EFL seasons until 2028. The deal will include the Championship, League One, League Two, Carabao Cup, and Bristol Street Motors Trophy. Matches will be covered mostly by Paramount+, with select matches airing on CBS Sports Network and CBS Sports Golazo Network.
The EFL is home for some of the most popular competitions in the world, adding up to 1,891 games each season across all its categories. This represents a major business opportunity for the TV company and its streaming platforms.
"The exciting action and prestige of the EFL, as the oldest league in the world, adds tremendous value to CBS Sports' premium soccer portfolio. With the EFL's compelling storylines and growing popularity coupled with our first-class coverage, we look forward to further elevating this league in the U.S.," Dan Weinberg, Executive VP of programming for CBS Sports stated.
Some of the teams that will become available for fans to watch thanks to this deal include Derby County, Norwich City, Leeds United, Sunderland, Luton Town, Burnley, and Bradford City, to name a few.
The deal will feature at least 155 Championship games, at least 38 League One and League Two fixtures, the entire play-off round, 30 Carabao Cup matches, and much more.
