Copa America action resumes Thursday, June 24, with Matchday 4 play, including a skirmish between South American hopefuls Chile and Paraguay at 8 p.m. ET.

It might not be the most anticipated Copa America game or a heated rivalry match, but there will be a lot of quality involved and things to look for in Copa America's clash between Chile and Paraguay at Estadio Nacional de Brasilia.

La Roja arrives at this meeting in second place behind Argentina in group A. The Chileans defeated Bolivia and drew against Argentina and Uruguay to accumulate five points. Managed by Martin Lasarte, Chile will need to win or draw this game to secure a spot in the quarterfinals stage.

Los Guaranies would go above Chile in Group A's standings with a win. Paraguay has three points after a 3-1 win against Bolivia and a 1-0 loss to Argentina. A win would also secure manager Eduardo Berizzo's side a spot in the Copa America playoffs.

Chile vs. Paraguay: Head-to-head

Chile and Paraguay will also fight for bragging rights apart from a spot in the Round of 16, as the two nations enter this matchup with a tied all-time record. According to 11v11.com, Paraguay and Chile are tied 27W-9D-27L, meaning the winner would overtake the loser in the record books.

Last time out, Paraguay defeated Chile 3-0 at Estadio Monumental David Arellano in Santiago de Chile during the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. La Roja will look to break a two-game losing streak on Thursday night.

Chile vs. Paraguay: Players to watch

Eduardo Vargas – Chile

Forward Eduardo Vargas has three goal contributions in three starts for Chile in Copa America 2021. Only Brazil's Neymar has more than him (4). The 31-year-old forward and new teammate Ben Brereton Diaz, who scored on his full-game debut against Paraguay after switching allegiances from English to Chilean, have combined well in the attack. With Vargas and Brereton up top, Chile will have a solid chance to break through an organized Paraguayan defense.

Miguel Almiron – Paraguay

Attacking midfielder Miguel Almiron will be Paraguay's player to watch against Chile. The 27-year-old is yet to combine for a goal, but his work rates make him worthy of having all eyes on him. Almiron drops back when the opponent has the ball to help his side defend, to then use his pace to throttle up the pitch. Paraguay's No. 10 will look to get involved in the scoring against La Roja, but more importantly, help the team to three points that would secure his country a spot in the Copa America playoffs.
