Copa América: Colombia vs Venezuela broadcast info

Copa América - TV and streaming channels to watch Colombia vs Venezuela

June 16, 2021 By Oscar Rojas
Los Cafetaleros could be one win away from clinching a spot in the next round, while Venezuela are forced to earn points if they want to make it past the group stage.

The 2020 Copa América will see the beginning of Matchday 2 with some interesting games. The first game of this stage will see Colombia trying to follow up on their initial win and beat Venezuela, a team that has struggled both on and off the pitch during their short time in Brazil.

Colombia kicked off their performance in the tournament with a one-nil win over Ecuador thanks to a goal by Edwin Cardona. Now, Reinaldo Rueda's team will try to add one more win to their tally and practically secure a spot in the next round.

As for Venezuela, the team led by José Peseiro began their run in the competition with a 3-0 loss to hosts Brazil, but that is the least of their problems right now due to a COVID-19 outbreak within the team that forced eight players to be quarantined ahead of the first game. In order to replace them, Peseiro had to call more footballers with less than 24 hours left for the game, which resulted in a disappointing result.

Colombia will face Venezuela without some of their most popular players, as James Rodríguez and Radamel Falcao were left out of the squad by coach Rueda. Instead, the team's weight will be carried by Luis Muriel and Duván Zapata, two players who have had a massive partnership at Atalanta in recent years. Other key players for Los Cafetaleros include Mateus Uribe, Edwin Cardona, and Juan Cuadrado, who were key for their win against Ecuador last Sunday.

Venezuela, on the other hand, will have to rely on their most experienced players to try and collect a positive result. Striker Fernando Aristeguieta will be crucial to his team's efforts, although he might need a bit of help from teammates such as goalie Joel Graterol and winger José Martínez, especially due to the absences of Josef Martínez and Tomás Rincón, two of the players that were diagnosed with COVID-19.

Colombia and Ecuador will lock horns for the 43rd time. Their current balance shows 20 wins for Colombia, seven wins for Ecuador, and fifteen draws. Their last meeting took place in the World Cup Qualifiers, with Colombia claiming a 3-0 win over La Vinotinto. Speaking of Copa América games, Colombia have beaten Venezuela in five of their six games, with the last of those going Venezuela's way with a 1-0 score in 2015.
