After suffering a tremendous dip in form following key injuries to James Maddison and Micky Van de Ven, Tottenham have finally managed to halt their freefall, winning their last three games in a row.
Unfortunately, the North London heavyweights have been dealt a huge blow once again. Spurs will be without another key player for some time and that man is Cristian Romero, the talented Argentine center-back at the heart of Postecoglou's defense.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup winner was taken off at half-time in Tottenham's recent 2-1 win over Everton due to a hamstring injury and while the South American ace will not be out for months, the 25-year-old will be sidelined for a number of weeks.
Speaking ahead of Thursday's crucial trip to Brighton, Postecoglou admitted that Romero will be out for four to five weeks after being diagnosed with a hamstring strain. This means the Argentine will not only miss their upcoming Premier League showdown with the Seagulls but also the tricky trip to Manchester United on January 14.
"It's not so great with Romero," the manager said about Romero's injury, as per the Sun.
"He had a scan the other day. He's got a hamstring strain.
"So we're looking at probably four weeks, five weeks for him."
This means Tottenham will be without their center-back partners Romero and Van de Ven for the next couple of games. The Dutch defender could return in time for the mid-January trip to Old Trafford but the club must first worry about their upcoming ties against Brighton and the in-form Bournemouth.
Romero has missed games due to suspension, with Tottenham losing all of those fixtures. As a result, the recent links to Nice center-back Jean-Clair Todibo are not surprising.
The North London side, who are currently fourth in the table, are also without James Maddison, Ivan Perisic, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Manor Solomon.
