Ramos opens talks to extend contract at R. Madrid

Report: Sergio Ramos opens up talks to extend contract at Real Madrid

June 15, 2021 By Oscar Rojas
The Spanish center back has come to his senses and may be signing a new deal with Los Blancos before the end of the month.

The chances of watching Sergio Ramos back with Real Madrid have dramatically increased during the past few days, and according to a source close to the player, the deal could be annpunced very soon.

The Spanish international was believed to be on his way out of the team since he had not reached an agreement to extend his current deal with Los Blancos. Sources close to the negotiation state that Ramos had demanded a two-year extension, while Florentino Pérez and his staff were only willing to offer him a one-year deal.

Now, with time running out for both parties and with Ramos' failure to strike a deal such as the one he wanted to get from Real Madrid, the player has come forward to negotiate his future in similar terms as the ones offered to him by Los Blancos in the past.

The report on this negotiation was provided by none other than Sevilla's sporting director Ramón Rodríguez "Monchi", who was also reportedly interested in signing Ramos if he became available on a free transfer. According to Sevilla's exec, Ramos will not leave Real Madrid anytime soon, as he is already working out a new contract with the Spanish giants.

"He is a Real Madrid player, and I think his negotiations to keep playing there are at an advanced stage. That's all I can say about him," "Monchi" told Sky Sports.

The 35-year-old has played 16 seasons for Real Madrid, winning five La Liga titles and four UEFA Champions League trophies, among many other accolades. The recently concluded season became his worst as a Real Madrid player after only being able to play 21 games (his lowest tally since he joined the team). Now, the player may have one more shot at redemption if things go as planned between him and the Spanish capital club.
