The prized tactician regards his blessed countryman as the greatest player of all time.
According to former Argentine coach Carlos Bianchi, Lionel Messi and his club Barcelona are from a completely different planet when compared to the rest.

Bianchi, who coached Boca Juniors, Atletico Madrid and AS Roma, amongst others, summed up Barcelona's Club World Cup triumph over Santos as incredible. He believes the 4-0 thrashing confirmed Barcelona's status as the best team in history.

"We are in the presence of the best team in history," stated Bianchi.

"Something similar occurred to me in respect to Lionel Messi: a few days ago, I did a talk for a business, and in the middle of the conference a Brazilian asked me who I considered as the best player in history, Pele or [Diego] Maradona. I responded with all the respect that both deserved, in this moment I see Messi as being superior to everyone."

Bianchi, a prolific goal-scorer during his time as a player in Argentina and France and also responsible for being the coach that won the most titles in the history of Boca Juniors, downplayed the fact that Messi has yet to win a major international title with the Argentine national team.

"There have been great players who didn't need or couldn't play in great national teams to demonstrate all of their class. Messi, no matter if it hasn't happened or won't happen in the future when he puts on the Argentina shirt, confirms each week, and inclusive sometimes more than once a week, that he is capable of things that nobody had done until now in the history of soccer."

Messi was named FIFA World Player of the Year for the past two years, and is the firm favourite to win the award for a third consecutive year in January.

Bianchi also praised Barcelona, a club which he refers to as an "almost perfect machine in playing soccer," which combine their unique style with results.

With the Club World Cup trophy, Barcelona won their 13th title in four seasons under Pep Guardiola, an astonishing achievement considering the fact that the coach had little experience prior to accepting the position.
