Netherlands full-back Denzel Dumfries emerged as the hero of the night after scoring a late goal to secure the win for his side in Sunday's Euro 2020 opening group clash with Ukraine. The 25-year-old defender headed home the winner with just a few minutes left on the clock in an encounter that has been widely regarded as the game of the tournament so far.
The first half of the proceeding was as eventful as the second but lacked the goals that would compliment the entertaining masterclass being served by both sides. However, the narrative eventually changed after the break with Gini Wijnaldum and Wout Weghorst fire the Netherlands in front with two goals in succession in the 52nd and 58th minute respectively.

While the hosts rested on their laurels, Ukraine fought to potentially stage a comeback and managed to level the playing field with a little over 10 minutes remaining. First, it was skipper Andriy Yarmolenko bagged a potential 'Goal of the Tournament' contender with a brilliant curler from outside the Dutch penalty box. Not long after, Roman Yaremchuk nodded home Ruslan Malinovskyi's free-kick to tie the game at 2-2.
With just five minutes of regulation time remaining, Denzel Dumfries atoned for the couple of chances he missed in the first half by heading home the eventual winner to dash the hopes of Andriy Shevchenko's side. Watch the goal below:
