Sporting got back to winning ways in the Liga with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Nacional in Lisbon.
Over 40,000 fans flocked to the Alvalade, exemplifying the new-found confidence coursing through the club.

They were rewarded with a positive first-half display. Wolfswinkel came close to scoring with a 17th-minute header, but 5 minutes later giant American centre-back Oguchi Oneywu was in the right place at the right time to nod into the net at the back post.

Nacional did not give up the ghost, and came back strongly in the second half. Mário Rondon shot wide when clean through on goal, and the Venezuelan striker then saw his close-range header well saved by Sporting goalkeeper Rui Patrício.

The Lions held on to keep themselves in a good position to make a genuine challenge for the title.
