Despite winning the Ligue 1 title, it was not enough to save Galtier's post as manager of PSG.

Sometimes, winning the league title isn't enough to save one's job, as Christophe Galtier has found out recently. Despite leading Les Parisiens to the Ligue 1 title, the French tactician has been fired by PSG's execs as they once again look for someone to help lead the club to Champions League glory.

Under Galtier, PSG were unfortunately eliminated during the first knockout rounds, falling to Bayern Munich in the round of 16. Since QSI took over at PSG, the club have seen a slew of managers, with the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Carlo Ancelotti all spending spells on the tactician's bench.

PSG's title defense was not exactly the most inspiring, as Les Parisiens narrow squeaked through to pip a high-flying Lens side to the title by just one point. Indeed, the capital giants failed to win their last two Ligue 1 games, including a 3-2 defeat to Clermont on the final matchday.

Reports claim that PSG's execs already have lined up the man they want to replace Galtier. Since being shockingly jettisoned by Bayern Munich, Julian Naglesmann has earned his fair share of suitors, with Chelsea at one point even been linked with an approach. The German tactician is widely rated by many big teams, and apparently, PSG feel that he could be the man to help them finally get their hands on the one title that has continually eluded them: the Champions League.

PSG will also be undergoing a huge transition period, with Lionel Messi's departure already confirmed, and Neymar looking certain to leave as well. Kylian Mbappe, the player the club has sought to build their team around, is once again apparently a focus for Real Madrid, so it will be interesting to see if the young French striker decides to remain or also jump ship.
