Messi pushing for Barcelona return: Jorge Messi

Report: Messi's father shares positive update on Barcelona talks

June 5, 2023 By Oscar Rojas
The Argentine player is now a free agent after his spell with PSG, but despite his desire to go back to Spain, things may not be that easy for 'La Pulga'.

Just when all signs seemed to rule out Messi's return to Barcelona, the player's agent and father has dropped a huge bomb of optimism for the club's supporters.

The footballer's father had a meeting earlier today with Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, to discuss his son's potential return to Camp Nou. Apparently, the club is doing everything in its power to try and convince La Liga to give them some leverage in order to bring Messi back, and the player is working everything out from his perspective to play with the Blaugrana one more time.

Speaking to Jijantes, Jorge Messi did not hide his son's desire to return for one last dance at Camp Nou.

"Leo wants to come back to Barcelona and I would love to see him back. We trust that Leo will be able to return," Jorge Messi stated as he left the meeting with Laporta.

Then, the agent revealed that this is not the first meeting he's had with Barcelona's main man.

"I don't know anything yet. He'd love it (to return to Barcelona). We've spoken the other day, of course he would be keen on returning," Messi's father added.

Despite these words full of optimism, Messi's father admitted there could be several roadblocks to see the deal happening.

"We need to speak about millions of things before it is official, but he would love to return," Jorge Messi concluded.

Apparently, the "millions of things" Jorge Messi was talking about referred to the conditions set by La Liga to make his son's signing easier for Els Culers. It would be impossible for Barcelona to come up with the necessary conditions for Messi's return right now, and if things continue their current course, the deal between the club and the Argentine would simply be off the table.

Moreover, reports coming in from Spain state that Messi's entourage is desperate to decide on the player's next move as soon as possible, which could make time a major enemy for Barcelona in their efforts to bring the iconic footballer back.
