The Portuguese star had been subject of speculation as to where his next move would be, and Milan have moved quickly towards shutting that down.

Although AC Milan were not able to win any titles this season, the Rossoneri still are giving their fans something to cheer about.

Not only did the Diavolo make it to their first Champions League semi-final in over ten years, but also now, the team has successfully been able to keep one of their key players at the Stadio San Siro for the forseeable future.

Rafael Leao, who has been the target of much interest from the Premier League in particular, has now signed a contract extension that will keep the Portuguese star at the Stadio San Siro until June 2028. Milan were desperate to get him to put pen to paper in order to ward off interest from other clubs, and now, it appears that the player and the club have come to an agreement that benefits both sides.

Leao has been an excellent player for the Rossoneri, with over 40 goals and nearly 30 assists since joining Milan back in 2019. Reports indicate that his new contract will see him net about $5.4 million (€5 million) per season, plus an additional $2.1 million (€2 million) in performance-related bonuses.

The player also does have a release clause - set at a whopping $187 million (€175 million) - that can only be activated within a very narrow 14 day time span in July. With that kind of price tag on his head, plus a new and improved wage packet, it is safe to assume that Milan fans will be seeing Leao in the Rossoneri kit for at least another few seasons.
