Barca, Juve, and Madrid, out of next year's UCL?

Real Madrid, Juventus, and Barcelona set to be left OUT of next year's UCL

June 1, 2021 By Oscar Rojas
La Liga president Javier Tebas discussed the fate of the three clubs that insist on creating the European Super League, and it's not good news for the European giants.

The last couple of months have been quite complicated for Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Juventus, especially since they announced the launch of the European Super League with nine teams that left the project after UEFA's intervention. Now, football's governing body in Europe is expected to have a final say on the matter, and according to La Liga president Javier Tebas, all the clubs that have pledged their "loyalty" to the Super League will be banned from entering the UEFA Champions League.

Speaking in an interview with Gol, La Liga's main man admitted that, as a member of UEFA's Executive Committee, he would advice both clubs from his country to think things over in the matter of not apologizing to UEFA, or else they could face some harsh consequences.

"The ones that have to be scared are Real Madrid and Barcelona. I don't want to imagine a Champions League without them but it can happen. More than a sanction, UEFA may opt not to register Madrid, and Barca in the Champions. I think they could be left out. They should be scared," Tebas stated.

As soon as Tebas' words were out, Italian newspaper La Repubblica echoed his words and went even further by adding that a credible source had told them that all three teams will be kicked out of the tournament in the next few days.

The other nine founding members of the European Super League agreed to apologize to UEFA in a joint statement, while also agreeing to donate $18.2M for the development of young talents in Europe. Nevertheless, these three clubs have defended their right to create a new competition away from UEFA, and the consequences of their actions could have a direct impact on their finances and their immediate future.

Can you imagine a UEFA Champions League edition without these three teams? We will have to wait and see how this story unfolds.
