The game between Manchester City and Real Madrid could be one of the most remembered in years to come, but there are some issues that need to be sorted out before it is played, and Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly made up his mind on what will go down as a key decision prior to the match.
The key choice for Carlo Ancelotti had to do with the center back duo that will take on the Cityzens right from the start. Last week, Eder Militao forced the Italian coach to change his tactics due to his suspension. Now, with the Brazilian center back available, Ancelotti has allegedly made a decision on who will team up with him to try and stop Erling Haaland -again- in the return leg. Needless to say, the decision will certainly raise some eyebrows.
According to As, the duo picked by Ancelotti to face Manchester City will include Eder Militao and Antonio Rüdiger, who was in charge of guarding Haaland in the first leg and limited the Norwegian to only 21 touches in the match, the lowest number for any Manchester City player. Rüdiger's physical take against Haaland proved quite effective, and in a game where Los Blancos need to win, they will surely appreciate to keep their rivals' options to score to a minimum.
Ancelotti's decision will force David Alaba to watch the game on the bench, although it could provide Carletto with another alternative at left back, where Eduardo Camavinga has filled Ferland Mendy's void. It remains to be seen what the names of the other nine players in Real Madrid's lineup will be, but for now, the two key spots in defense seem to have been handed out.
