The Reds visit the King Power Stadium on Monday knowing that a win is a must if they are to maintain their top-four push. Meanwhile, the Foxes are fighting for their lives to avoid relegation.

Liverpool return to action in the Premier League on Monday in what should be a crucial game. The Reds, who are fighting tooth and nail to finish in the top four, face a Leicester side fighting for their lives to remain in the English top-flight. The King Power Stadium will be the venue for this tie as three important points will be at hand.

Leicester have just witnessed Southampton get officially relegated and will need to do everything within their power to avoid joining the Saints in the Championship. The Foxes are currently second from bottom but are only two points away from the safety zone.

However, in order to leapfrog 17th-placed Everton, Dean Smith's side will need to beat Liverpool, and that is a tough ask for most clubs in Europe. Additionally, Maddison and Co. enter this tie on the back of their horrible loss away to Fulham.

Harvey Barnes scored twice while James Maddison got on the scoresheet at Craven Cottage but the 2015/16 Premier League champions conceded five en route to their 21st defeat of the season.

This means the hosts have only one win to their name in their last 14 games, hence why the club are where they are. When they last faced Liverpool, Leicester delivered a valiant performance despite the 2-1 loss and will need to produce a similar display if they are to come away with something.

Jurgen Klopp's men, on the other hand, are in a desperate race to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, something that appeared unthinkable a few weeks ago.

After going on a six-game winning streak, the Merseyside giants are now only four points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester United with only three games left in the season. This trip to Leicester is one of Liverpool's last three games, meaning they will need the Red Devils to slip up twice, but this is still a huge improvement for Klopp's men.

Salah and Co. have recently beaten Brentford, Fulham, West Ham, and Tottenham, showing tremendous improvement. Nonetheless, this could still be too little too late for the Reds. Manchester United's 2-0 win over Wolves on Saturday means Europa League football is the likelier outcome for Liverpool, but there is still hope for the Merseyside giants.

As mentioned earlier, Klopp's men beat Leicester the last time they crossed paths. However, their performance wasn't exceptional. Nonetheless, at this point of the season, and given what's at stake, all that matters is the result and that's what Salah and Co. will be aiming to deliver.

Team news

Leicester: Ryan Bertrand, James Justin, and Jannik Vestergaard are all out for the rest of the season while Kelechi Iheanacho is a doubt. Ricardo Pereira, however, is fit again and should feature while Daniel Iversen should keep his spot in goal.

Liverpool: Stefan Bajcetic, Calvin Ramsay, and Thiago Alcantara are all out for the rest of the season but Jordan Henderson should be fine for this game. It will be interesting to see whether Luis Diaz will force his way into the lineup or whether Klopp will stick with the Nunez-Gakpo-Salah front three.

Key stats

  • Liverpool are on a six-game winning streak.

  • The Reds have won four out of their last six clashes with Leicester.

  • However, Klopp's men have lost their last two trips to the King Power Stadium.
