Roma vs Leverkusen

All eyes will be on Jose Mourinho and whether the Portuguese boss will lead Roma to back-to-back European trophies. The Special One famously guided the Serie A heavyweights to the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League trophy, beating Feyenoord in the final to secure the Giallorossi their first continental silverware in over 60 years. Paulo Dybala and Co. have endured a number of hiccups en route to the semifinals, including the first-leg loss to Feyenoord in the quarterfinals. However, Jose turned things around as his side triumphed 4-1 over the Dutch heavyweights and will look for a similar performance when Leverkusen come rolling in.

Leverkusen, on the other hand, are led by Xabi Alonso, one of several iconic footballers to have played under the Special One. However, with the Spaniard now diving into management, he will look to get the better of his master. Unfortunately, the German club enter this clash on the back of their 2-1 loss to Cologna in the Bundesliga, a result which has put their European hopes under threat. In fact, Die Werkself have won only two of their last six matches across all competitions but with Diaby and Wirtz at their disposal, anything is achievable. Leverkusen have reached the final of this competition only once before and that was in 1987/88 when they lifted the trophy. Will the Germans end their long wait for another Europa League final appearance? Tune in on Thursday to watch the first chapter of this interesting tie.

Juventus vs Sevilla

This is an interesting fixture as it pairs two teams that crashed out of the UEFA Champions League group stage against each other. Juventus' exit was the shocking occurrence as they missed out on qualification to PSG and Benfica. However, the Italian giants have turned things around in the second half of the season and are now second in the table in Serie A. While the 15-point deduction still looms over their head, the Bianconeri's current position should secure them UEFA Champions League football, meaning it's not do or die for them in the Europa League. Nonetheless, this is the Old Lady's only remaining route to silverware. While Allegri's men went on a four-game winless run from mid to late-April, the Serie A heavyweights have won their last two fixtures in a row and will look to make it three on the trot when they host the opposition.

Sevilla, on the other hand, had an embarrassing campaign in the UEFA Champions League, picking up only one win out of six. However, the Spanish club are back in the running for the Europa League after their remarkable victory over Manchester United in the quarterfinals. En-Nesyri and Co. bounced back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Old Trafford before thrashing the Red Devils 3-0 in the return fixture. While Ten Hag's men were depleted by injuries, it was still a confidence-boosting result for a club that has undergone a number of managerial changes this season. Los Hispalenses are currently 11th in La Liga, meaning this is the only route back into Europe for Sevilla, which adds more pressure to the visitors.

Who's out for the UEFA Europa League 1st-leg semifinal ties?

Roma: Rick Karsdorp, Marash Kumbulla, and Diego Llorenta (injured); Chris Smalling (doubtful)

Leverkusen: Andrey Lunev and Patrik Schick (injuries)

Juventus: Mattia De Sciglio (injured)

Sevilla: Joan Jordan and Marcao (injured); Suso and Tanguy Nianzou (doubtful)
