Mauricio Pochettino, Luis Enrique, and Julian Nagelsmann have all been linked with the Stamford Bridge job but one man is close to taking the job.

Chelsea are currently under the reign of caretaker boss Frank Lampard, who succeeded Bruno Saltor after Graham Potter was relieved of his duties. However, a permanent head coach could arrive at Stamford Bridge soon.

And that man is Mauricio Pochettino, the highly-rated Argentine tactician who has been out of work since leaving PSG. This is according to several reliable sources such as the Daily Mail, Fabrizio Romano, and Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports, who claim a deal for the 51-year-old could be wrapped up this week.

The former Spurs boss has been linked with the London giants before and was in the running to replace Thomas Tuchel prior to Potter's appointment. However, the second time is the charm as Pochettino is currently the leading candidate.

Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann were the early favorites, meaning this update was a surprise. However, despite flying to London to undergo an interview, the Spaniard was ruled out while the aforementioned German tactician was reportedly "spooked" into turning down the Stamford Bridge job.

This is according to the Daily Mail, with the British tabloid writing that the former Bayern Munich boss had concerns over the recruitment process. Nagelsmann reportedly thought that the job was his and was put off by Chelsea's interest in Pochettino and Vincent Kompany.

Mauricio, meanwhile, sat down with Todd Boehly and Co. and impressed the board. The Argentine made a name for himself in the English top flight thanks to his successful spells at Southampton and Tottenham, with the South American spending five memorable years in North London.

Pochettino is also a candidate for the Tottenham job, with Spurs being in need of a new head coach following Antonio Conte's departure. However, he could sign for their London rivals in the next few days.

Chelsea are currently 11th in the table and will be without UEFA Champions League football — and European football altogether — next season. However, the club boasts several young and talented players, which is Pochettino's bread and better. If this deal is completed, it will be interesting to see how he fares at the Bridge.
