Barcelona resumed their La Liga campaign in style. They trounced Real Zaragoza 4-0.
Pep Guardiola offered Cuenca yet another spot in Barcelona’s starting XI. The inexperienced striker was unleashed alongside Argentina’s Lionel Messi and Chile’s Alexis Sanchez.

In midfield, former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas and maestro Xavi Hernandez had Keita in support. The backline was filled with Dani Alves, Carles Puyol, Maxwell and Gerard Pique.

The latter opened the scoring inside the 18th minute with an easy header. The defender’s goal made justice to Xavi’s excellent curling ball.

Real Zaragoza fell further under the dominance of Barcelona as Juarez and Lanzaro picked up a yellow card each midway through the first period.

Goalkeeper Roberto was kept busy by the dynamism of Alexis Sanchez and Lionel Messi in attack. La Pulga finally deceived the Zaragoza shot stopper with a right-footed strike 2 minutes before the break.

The visitors tried to step up their game but Carles Puyol’s 54th minute goal destroyed their hopes. David Villa sealed Barcelona’s easy romp over Zaragoza with a goal 15 minutes from time.
